Significant portions of the Withers Collection (about 10,000 images) are made available online for the public to view and reference for educational purposes. Educational purposes include personal study, personal research use, and preparation for teaching, and exclude any commercial use, including but not limited to academic competition and academic publication. The re-use of images for educational purposes (not including print or electronic publication of any kind) is generally considered acceptable under the terms of fair use. The reproduction, distribution, public display or other re-uses of any content beyond a fair use as codified in section 107 of US Copyright Law is at the user’s own risk.

 

If you wish to publish images online or in print, even if for educational purposes, you must get copyright clearance. Users who seek to make commercial uses of the images will be required to seek permission from the Withers Family Trust.
